| MEN'S TOURNAMENTS
* Doubles tournaments for men on a round-robin basis ensuring each team plays four matches during their stay. * Each team to consist of two players, one of them acting as captain. * Categories: +40, +50, +60, +70 and +75. As you will note, we have formally included the +40 category, as well as a new +75. * Each IC can enter teams in one, several or all categories. In this manner, ICs have full flexibility in organising their participation, since each category has a tournament to itself. * There will be prizes for winners and runners-up in each of the five categories (the 'Uruguay 30th Anniversary Cup'). * We have increased to eight the number of teams for each category (i.e., seven visitor ICs and our own). * For each category there will be two series of four teams each, playing on a round-robin basis. On the final day, the teams placing first in their respective series will play for winner and runner-up, and the seconds, thirds and fourths will play each other to determine a final ranking of one to eight. * The result of all matches that go beyond two sets will be determined through an eleven-point tiebreak. * Whenever two teams are tied in wins and losses in their series, preference will be given to the one with most games won; should they still be level, they will play an eleven-point tiebreak to determine the winner. * On March 8 in the evening we will have a captains' meeting to review arrangements and proceed to the draw. The Director of the Tournament will be present. Whenever players have an ITF ranking at that time, this will be taken into account for the ranking of each team in its respective series; otherwise, the luck of the draw will decide. * Play will be scheduled in the mornings and afternoons, on a minimum of eight clay courts. * There will be an emergency medical service. In case of injury, we will provide a substitute from our own IC to ensure that all matches are started as scheduled. LADIES' TOURNAMENTS We have been told that ladies from some of the ICs would like to come. We would certainly welcome them, and we would organise their competition on the same basis as set out above for the gentlemen, adjusting to the age categories that register. Our own lady players are ready to participate with them. So, please let us hear from you all. |
