2024 International Council AGM

Jul 6, 2024

USIC President Robb Bunnen, Secretary David Gollob, and IC Council Dan Waldman attended the 2024 International Council AGM meeting and workshop on July 6-7. The meeting was attended by Presidents and Secretaries from 32 of the 42 IC member nations.

The workshop explored agenda items including strategies for increasing membership in key demographics of Women, Younger Players (Under 40) and former Professional players. It was also suggested to promote the IC Philanthropy Foundation (ICPF) platform as a key asset to leverage with each of the three target new members demographics.

The Rod Laver Junior Challenge was also discussed as a key to building a bridge to the next generation. It was acknowledged that everyone needs to do more to stay in touch with Rod Laver Junior Challenge alumni during the “bridge” years from junior player to early 30’s. As an example, Emily Arbuthnott played in the Rod Laver Junior Challenge, competed at Stanford University achieving All-American status, played professionally, and is now employed by Boston Consulting Group. She is a new member of
the IC of Great Britain and serves on its Board. The Von Cramm Cup was highlighted as the next important step to keeping young players engaged in competition.

The AGM meeting reviewed the financials of the International Council as well as the business reports
from the member clubs. Updates were provided on the IC of Great Britain’s 100 th Anniversary celebration scheduled for August 4-11. Global efforts of the IC Philanthropy Foundation were also presented.

Lunch in the Members’ Enclosure at the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) closed the meetings.
The AGM is scheduled during the first week of Wimbledon with time for attendees to witness world-
class tennis on center court at the All-England Club
