Prior to Calvin LaForrest’s 2025 season, no player had ever been ranked No. 1 in three USTA age divisions simultaneously or reached No. 1 in four different divisions within a single year. The 46-year-old from Arlington, VA has now rewritten the record books in commanding fashion.

The National USTA rankings update every Wednesday, making each division a weekly race. Players choose tournaments strategically, targeting point opportunities in the age groups where they want to climb the rankings. A teaching professional at the Chevy Chase Club in Maryland, LaForrest doesn’t just climb, he conquers them all.

He has dominated the Men’s 30s since December 25, 2024, holding the top spot for 47 consecutive weeks. In the Men’s 45s, his vast 3,000-point lead over the next closest player  has been equally dominant having held the No. 1 ranking since May for 27 consecutive weeks.

At the Las Vegas Senior Open in late October, LaForrest stormed through the Men’s 40s draw, punctuating his run with a 6–0, 6–0 win over Louis Lo. The title vaulted him past California’s Anant Sitaram and restored his No. 1 ranking. That return was long overdue – after a 10-week stint at the top in 2024, LaForrest spent 71 weeks chasing the lead while Sitaram held No. 1 in the 40s division for 49 weeks.

With that win in the 40s, LaForrest became the first player in USTA history to simultaneously hold No. 1 in the Men’s 30s, 40s, and 45s.

Even more remarkably, this season cemented another unprecedented accomplishment: LaForrest stands in rarefied air as the first USTA player to reach No. 1 in four different age divisions in a single year. From August 7, 2024 to April 23, 2025, he held the top spot in the Men’s 35s for 38 weeks. He is currently ranked No. 3, and if he retakes No. 1 in the 35s while holding his other current division leads, he will become the first player in history to sit atop four age divisions simultaneously.

What’s next? LaForrest is only 46. With the Men’s 50s, 55s, and 60s still ahead, his story is far from finished. For now, he stands alone, rewriting what’s possible in USTA tennis.

The USIC proudly congratulates Calvin LaForrest on his unprecedented National USTA ranking milestones, a testament to his exceptional talent, relentless work ethic, and the character he brings to both the USIC and the sport.
