Dear Fellow USIC members:
My first USIC event was in 2001 when then USIC President Les Nicolson introduced me to the USIC and invited me to play in the President’s Cup at Roland Garros in Paris. In the last 25 years, I have never seen as much USIC activity as I saw in 2025! From multiple “friendlies” to increased philanthropic activities – primarily our Tennis Rwanda program spearheaded by Phil Cox – to a now new and very improved USIC website, we are hitting on all cylinders.
Former USIC President Dan Waldman is spearheading a very exciting USIC Mentoring program in conjunction with the IC Council based in London. This program is designed to assist former ATP and WTA Tour players as they retire from the tour and move on to their next professional opportunity. The Australian IC has developed a similar “Beyond the Tour” program for former Australian tour players that dovetails with the USIC’s Mentoring Program.
The IC Philanthropic Foundation has 17 programs around the world, but our Tennis Rwanda program directed by Cox has been the most successful. More than 2,000 under-resourced youth are now playing tennis and developing life skills. A permanent facility is being discussed and likely will be developed in several years.
We have a full calendar of events this year which is easily accessible on our website, and I urge each of you to either play in an event or volunteer to be a match captain for an event. All of us need to continue to be “Ambassadors for the USIC” to bring in new members and to field outstanding USIC teams for all events.
Wishing you great success in 2026 on and off the court!
Gratefully,
Robb Bunnen
USIC President
