Lauren Davis Breaks Top 50 on WTA Tour

Lauren Davis, only 20-years-old, has been successfully climbing the professional ranks and has reached new milestones in 2014. She defeated No. 12, Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 7-6(7-4) during the second round at Wimbledon which allowed her to advance to the third round of the tournament for the first time. At the BNP Paribas Open, Davis had her first victory over a top-10 player and a Grand Slam champion after defeating world No. 4 Victoria Azarenka in the second round. For the first time, Davis earned a spot in the third round of a Grand Slam tournament by defeating Julia Goerges (former world No. 15) at the Australian Open. Davis, who ended the 2013 season ranked No. 72, recently cracked the top 50 and is currently ranked No. 48. Her 2014 record is 31-16 to date. The USIC encourages members attending the US Open to cheer on Davis!
