Captain: | Bob Beverley |
The Bahamas IC Doubles event is played every two years. This year there were a number of complications for our USIC players. It began with an east coast blizzard when our players were trying to get to Nassau. Also, a tragic shooting in Fort Lauderdale delayed some of our players. One player arrived 2 days late, another 3 days late, and our last player, Henry Kennedy, arrived in time to play only two matches.
But all is well. The USIC team completed with a win, which makes this the third consecutive victory in the past six years. We won all four matches, and defeated Bahamas in the finals on Friday the 13th. Everyone participated in our wins.
Bob and Michelle Williams and Stuart and Gabriela Chase were all undefeated in men's, women's, and mixed doubles. The teams competing were: USA, Bahamas, Canada, Barbados, and an International team made up of players from various countries.
Players for the USIC team were: Henry Kennedy, Don Keenan, Colleen Burns-Keenan, Chum Steele, Norma Taylor, Stuart & Gabriela Chase, Bob & Michelle Williams, with Bob Beverley captain.
The International team captain & player was Kay Beverley, with Imelda Mehlert, and Bruce Morehead.
