Eight USIC members medaled at the ITF Masters World Championships from May 17-25 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL turning in outstanding performances despite grueling conditions. With temperatures soaring to 96°F and humidity levels to match, players faced not only top international competition, but also an unforgiving climate.
Dan Waldman delivered led the USIC squad with a flawless 10–0 record earning Gold medals in both the Men’s 70 singles and doubles. His dominance on the singles court set the tone for the team’s success, and his prowess with partner Rick Meyer showed that USIC members are not to be underestimated.
Carolyn Nichols was equally unstoppable with a perfect 7–0 record to claim Gold in Women’s 70s singles and doubles. She did not partner with a USIC member in doubles. Her consistency and competitive spirit were inspiring throughout the tournament.
Meyer was an incredible teammate turning in a stellar showing with a 7–1 record, securing Gold in Men’s 70 doubles with partner Waldman, and Silver in Mixed 70s with Andrea Barnes. His skill and versatility were on full display all week.
Chuck Kuhle fought hard across every match, finishing with an impressive 8–1 record. He earned Gold in Men’s 65 doubles and Silver in Mixed 65s. He did not play with a USIC member in either event. Chuck was a prime example of both strength and resilience in every round.
Tina Karwasky claimed a Silver medal in Women’s 70 singles, demonstrating grace, grit, and determination in every match she played.
Barnes was integral to the USIC team’s success capturing a Silver medal with Meyer in Mixed 70s, bringing poise and sharp court awareness to each of her matches.
Mariana Hollman and Jeffrey Snow rounded out the medal haul as key contributors to the USIC squad with a Silver medal finish in Mixed 60s.
